How teachers use an exit ticket
An exit ticket is the fastest formative check there is: a small slip with one or two questions, filled in and handed over on the way out of the room. It tells you, in the two minutes before the next lesson, who actually understood today and who needs picking up tomorrow — before it shows up as a bigger gap in a test three weeks later.
It works because it is small. A whole-class quiz needs planning and time; an exit ticket needs a stack of paper by the door and thirty seconds at the end of the lesson.
